Reaching out here doesn't accuse you — it puts you ahead.

Therapy you can actually afford

  • Community mental health and addiction centers — Línea de la Vida can tell you which one is closest to you.
  • Public university psychology clinics — low-cost or free sessions.
  • Your municipality's DIF office and your state's psychologists' association.

Individual or couples?

There's no rule about which comes first. Individual therapy often opens the door to couples therapy. That's a decision for you and a professional — not a webpage.

Four things you can actually require

  1. That they hold a professional license (cédula profesional) — you can check it online.
  2. That they explain how they work, in plain language.
  3. That you can ask about cost without embarrassment, from the first call.
  4. That if by the third or fourth session you don't feel heard, you switch. Changing therapists isn't failing — it's the same as changing doctors.

These operate in Spanish — ask when you call whether English support is available.

Alcohol or substances

Línea de la Vida
800 911 2000Spanish only

There are also free 12-step groups almost everywhere in the country — aa.org.mx

Going doesn't make you less of a man. It's the same as going to the doctor when something hurts.

What I do

Conferences for men, and one workshop that's only offered in closed sessions. If you'd like to bring one to your organization: info@calebelizondo.com.

The books — Leadership Without Anesthesia and The Knight's Heart.

Nothing on this page is therapy or a substitute for a professional. These are the places I'd send a friend.
